Founded in 2004 in Huntsville, Alabama, Rocket City Roller Derby (RCRD) is a non-profit recreational league dedicated to the thrilling sport of full-contact roller derby. Our league brings together athletes of all skill levels, promoting teamwork, fitness, and empowerment through this dynamic and fast-paced sport. At RCRD, we foster a supportive and inclusive community where skaters, officials, and fans alike can experience the excitement and camaraderie of roller derby. What is Roller Derby
Roller derby is a fast-paced, full-contact sport played on an oval track. Each team fields a jammer, who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team, and blockers, who play both offense and defense. About Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby
The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international powerhouse of women’s flat track roller derby, representing over 450 member leagues across six continents. As the sport’s governing body, the WFTDA promotes and advances flat track roller derby while revolutionizing women’s roles in sports through the collective efforts of its global member leagues. Our strength lies in the diversity of our leagues, volunteers, staff, and community. As we continue to grow and become more inclusive, the WFTDA will only get stronger.
